This review is from: The Essential Writings of Dr Edward Bach (Paperback)
I was surprised that nobody had written a review of this book yet and as i'm a huge fan of Edward Bach i felt i should do one.
This book is like three in one because i think i'm right in saying you can buy all of its contents in 3 different texts.....but why bother? Some of the indications for the remedies found on the internet are very sound but alot have been altered (beyond belief in some cases) so buying a book with Bach's orginal writings is probably the best way to go. The content of the book is very good and covers all the 38 remedies along with Bach's indications for their use. There is also a section on the rescue remedy, treatment of animals and dosages.
Heal Thyself is Bach's own philosophy on health and disease and it is truely an eye opening read. The general gist is that the mainstream medical systems of today are aimed at treating the physical results of much more superficial beginings of illness, and that changing a person's outlook on life and providing a more safe environment for the individual (with the remedies) is the way to lead them back to health and well being. Bach talks of pride, excessive self love, cruelty, ignorance, greed and hate as being the primary causes of the commonly seen physical problems in our society and that when these become dominant parts of our personalities, a reflection of them appears in our body. (in the form of pain, neurosis, stiffness etc) Bach will explain everything alot more eloquently than i can but his emphasis on personal transformation and reformation should stick in every readers mind after finishing this book. As Bach puts it:-
"The prevention and cure of disease can be found by discovering the wrong within ourselves and eradicating this fault by the ernest development of the vitue that will destroy it; not by fighting the wrong, but by bringing in such a flood of its opposing virtue that it will be swept from our natures."
