Best book I've ever read.,
This review is from: Papillon (Harper Perennial Modern Classics) (Paperback)
I've read a lot of mountaineering books about human exploits against all the odds but none of them compare to Papillon. It's an incredibly long book, almost four books in one, it never slows down, it never loses it's edge, it maintains it's gripping nature all the way through. What Papillon lived through was incredibly brutal, his detailed descriptions bring the unimaginable fully to life. You want him to succeed, you follow him on a rollercoaster of success and failure, all underpinned by his determination to achieve whatever he set out to do. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.
