This review is from: The Film Encyclopedia 7e: The Complete Guide to Film and the Film Industry (Paperback)
Of course, if you had a book that includes everything to please everyone the book would have to be 5 feet thick! This is as near as you can get to the ultimate film companion.
Despite the thickness of the book you don't have to fight to read text near the centre of it and it won't leave an awful crease on the spine unlike books you have to battle with to read.
The content covers all aspects of the film industry; actors, directors, producers, film production companies and of course the history of all the big Hollywood film studios and how they've developed from their humble births.
Great book to dip into on a rainy afternoon. Personally I find reading all about the actors fascinating and the book gives good details, not just when they were born; the studios they worked for, marriages, awards and awards nominations etc, this is rounded off with a 'Films include' list with release dates.
A terrific book which will appeal to Kindle users because of the books size. Personally, I like to get to grips with the real thing, despite it's size.
Probably stating the obvious but this isn't a film guide, I would highly recommend the Radio Times film guide which makes a perfect companion to this mighty tomb.
