Well worth a read,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Solstice: a novel of the Zombie Apocalypse (Kindle Edition)I must admit, I only bought this because it was £0.77, but I was very pleasantly surprised to find it was a good book!
I'm a fan of all things Zombie, so finding the zombies were fast was no problem (if you only like the Romero zombie then firstly stay away from this book, and secondly go watch 28 days later and broaden your thinking!). They are given an added creepy element in that they can talk- and they're not particularly pleasant.
The Solstice referenced in the title is when the story starts- but the night never ends. Plunged into never-ending darkness we're left with two converging tales. The first sees Stu (an american teacher in London with his students) and Tana (who has lost one son and is desperate to save the other) holed up in a supermarket.
The second follows a tragic young woman named Melanie as she and her foster family try to flee Sweden for the states.
Overall it was an excellent read, even if you do have to forgive a few things that come with an American author setting their novel in the UK. This is far-outweighed by the real sense of danger at every turn, and the heartbreaking ending (I'll warn you all now, not everyone makes it out alive)! Definitely worth the 4 stars.
