This review is from: Genius: Great Inventors and Their Creations (Hardcover)
It must be difficult to produce any item for all tastes but I feel justified in writing the following to ensure that others may not end up with something they do not want. The one comment I should have read is that suggesting it is ideal for children.
The presentation is along the same lines as the Readers Digest series, full of overdone pictures in bright colours scattered all over the pages, some at different angles and overlapped with the print in a variety of small typefaces filling in the gaps It is a thin volume doubled in size by a totally unnecessary case and over thick covers. I find it difficult to determine what in fact the author is trying to sell. I can believe that there is a good deal of interest within it's pages but not in a form that stimulates any interest for me, possibly because it's all been done before in a more acceptable way. It seems to follow the popular theme that everything must be dressed up in bright colours, flashing lights and backed by loud music which is fine for some but a huge turn off for many.
I'm sure that there are many who will appreciate this book but mine will either go back or end up on a shelf in a charity shop as, having bought it as a gift, I cannot think of anyone who would appreciate it.
