Passable British Zombie film,
This review is from: Zombie Undead [DVD] (DVD)
!!!Warning! There Are No Zombie Soldiers In This Film!!!
Driven by ambulance man Steve(Barry Thomas), Sarah(Ruth King) is frantically looking for a place to take her wounded father to. There has been a terrorist attack in the city, and survivors have been given directions to an evacuation facility in the countryside. When they arrive, Sarah's father collapses and as he is given a shot of Adrenalin, Sarah collapses. When she awakes, suffering from concussion the world is a very different place. Sarah finds herself one of a small group of desperate survivors, trapped in the building where the dead roam the corridors, searching for their next meal....
I don't think this film is deserving of one or two star reviews. It really isn't that bad. It starts off promisingly, before turning into a rather dull affair as the survivors bicker and stumble around the facility looking for a way out. It's obviously a relatively low budget affair and taken as such, both the special effects and the acting are reasonable.
However, some of the more vitriolic reviews for this film are understandable given the false hopes that the very misleading cover art promises the unsuspecting audience. I guess that a zombie film these days needs to offer a gimmick or at least something rather original. This one decides that the best poilcy, considering it has nothing new on the table, is to trick its audience. Bad move. I suppose cover art depicting five people stuck in a lift arguing with eachother wouldn't have seemed so enticing to any potential buyers.
So don't purchase this dvd in the hope of seeing some exciting, apocolyptic Zombies vs. Soldiers bloodbath. Instead, if you come to this film with rather low expectations, like I did, you might find it reasonably entertaining.
3 out of 5 for the film. 0 out of 5 for the marketing campaign.
