This review is from: The Good Guys Wear Blue: One Mans Struggle Policing the Streets of Broken Britain (Kindle Edition)
Mr Browning gives an in depth account of the day to struggles as the lowest form of life, the probationer, charting his progress and his surprise at the lack of quality and commitment amongst a small hard core of long serving officers who pay lip service only to police discipline. I found the descriptions of the subtle bullying, the reliance on the seniority culture to avoid work, and detachment of management ranks from staff very similar to my experience of the prison service in the 1980's.
