Five stars, yes, but two misgivings,

This review is from: Animal: The definitive visual guide to the world's wildlife (Hardcover)
I agree with all the positive things said about this book in other reviews. As well as those comments, it so happens that I know one of the book's consultants; he is internationally preeminent in his field and this gives me faith in the quality overall of the text.
However, (1) the book suffers from what Sir Robert May (Oxford University) describes as "vertibrate chauvinism"; (2) the book does not list in its pages the species which is in plague proportions across the planet, one of the apes, known as Homo sapiens. It is sloppy thinking such as this omission which is leading the planet to - and beyond - environmental crisis.

Project 1409 says:
DK have published a sister book to animal, titled 'Human', which is proportionately identical to 'Animal'. It should provide all the information you require on Homo Sapiens.
