Who's Darcy and Elizabeth?,
This review is from: Mr. and Mrs. Fitzwilliam Darcy: Two Shall Become One (The Darcy Saga) (Paperback)
I was so disappointed when I read this book which I bought as an attempt at a sequel to Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, and without reading any reviews about it.
This Elizabeth and Darcy were not the ones I was familiar with and I could not believe some of the intimate descriptions about Elizabeth and Darcy's wedding night. Yes, Darcy and Elizabeth were in love but, if this is a sequel, we the reader should not have been told in such sordid detail about what went on in private in their bedroom.
When I later read that the author had written the book after viewing the 2005 film, which is only one interpretation and not true to the book, and not having actually read any Austen, let alone Pride and Prejudice, I was surprised that she thought she was in a position to write such a novel at all. This did shed light on why her Darcy had met Elizabeth in a state of undress, something he would not have done under any composition of Jane Austen.
Definitely not one for the true Austen fan. I won't be topping up my Miss Lathan library.
