This review is from: Dark Road: A play (Hardcover)
I thopught this was the story behind the play, but NO. This is just the play and comments on it and cast and crew etc.,... sad.
Having seen the play, thought the story was worth writing a good book about it. The guys obviously worked well togeather but perhaps Mark Thomson had not directed many / any crime plays before??? The opening act was unbearably slow and tedious, instead of getting straight into the characters it itroduced them one at a time taking an age to do it. Then the last act which had everyone's full attention - because the play was a rattling good story; went so fast, (as if they could not wait to get off stage) if you blinked you missed it. If like me it was over too fast by far and you missed the end action then read the book. WHY didn't Rankin write this as a novel, it was a fab story, great actors but the pace was all over the place - this book just emphasises that!
