Doesn't compare to debut album,
This review is from: Angels With Dirty Faces (Audio CD)
Although some may consider that this album is pop perfection, some of the factors that made their debut album so good are somewhat lacking.
Undoubtedly these girls can sing, but the incredible harmonies on songs like 'New Year' and 'Soul Sound' have not reappeared as the girls opt for a sexier, more grown up sound.
This was the supreme strength of their debut - while the lyrics were sometimes immature, there were so many layers of beautiful harmonies that these could be forgiven and indeed completely overlooked. But the emphasis here is on stronger songs and punchier singing, which I don't think makes the most of their abilities.
The singles are strong, although 'Round Round' now ceases to impress due to so much radio and TV play and while the girls claim they are 'Stronger' I'm not so sure. Cooler maybe, but at a slight cost to their true musical qualities.
