A great idea...a great gadget,

I open with honesty. I am not a fab of exercise. I will go for a walk and do try and take the stairs whenever possible. Gyms? Running? No.
This little gadget is a combined pedometer, watch, heart rate monitor and activity monitor. Quite a lot of stuff for such a little thing.
The Garmin people have thoughtfully included two different types of wristband to suit different wrists or moods. The wristbands are easily interchangeable and the rubbery material feels pleasant on the wrist.
The set up is easy, pop a little usb adapter into a usb drive, sync the usb and the wristband. Voila! You are good to go.
Umm...not me. The vivofit did not work with my windows phone, my android tablet. It did work with my desktop but that, in my mind, limits the ease of use.
The vivofit tailors the users level of health, fitness etc. The display shows you how many steps you should do etc. It also tells you when you have been idle for too long and tracks your sleep.
Very impressive. I reckon that you would be more likely to wear the vivofit than to remember to clip on your pedometer. Plus the vivifot is less likely to be lost.
One quibble is the lack of a back lit display. Annoying on the time mode. At nearly £100 I felt this was a cheap cop- out.
