Not her best,
This review is from: Living la Vida Loca (Paperback)
I've read all of the books that Belinda Jones has written, she is one of my favourite authors.
This is her latest book which sees the heroines applying to join a TV show where they need to learn to dance in 3 locations, the Tango in Argentina, the Flamenco in Spain and Salsa in Cuba. With the usual ups and downs that one can expect from a chick lit.
This book follows Belinda's usual style of writing, which is fun and light and very easy to read. The descriptions she uses in her book transport you to the various locations. The hilarious situations the girls get themselves into are so down to earth you could imagine yourself getting into them if you were in their shoes. There were also quite a few laugh out loud funny bits in the books which resulted in a funny look from my boyfriend.
Unfortunately this book tries to cram too much into it. There are three locations instead of one, 2 heroines instead of 1 and a lot of men to keep track of. The reason this does not work in this book is because there is a sensitive issue that the book is trying to address and the time needed for this is cut short, especially when the heroine confronts it takes so few lines I felt slightly cheated with a "is that it?!?!" feeling. This has resulted in the 3 star rating as I know Belinda's books can be so much better.
This is a good read for a holiday but if you have a choice of Belinda's books then go for one of her earlier ones, Divas Las Vegas being my personal favourite. Having said that this book has not put me off this author and I will be buying her next book when it comes out, however I may not be rushing out to buy it this time.
