Uncharted: The reason for getting a PS3,
This review is from: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (PS3) (Video Game)
After some time I am finally convinced to put finger to keyboard in honour of a truly epic video gaming experience.
Comparisons between Uncharted and the classic Tomb Raider series are inevitable but inexact as in a single stroke the developers at Naught Dog have produced one of the most enjoyable and exciting gaming experiences I have ever had.
If I was ever asked what it was about Tomb Raider that frustrated me it would be the unforgiving and not fully responsive controls, puzzles that took too long to solve and would often require internet advice, and lacklustre action sequences. Take the third person platforming, shooting, fist fighting, and treasure hunting of TR and remove those frustrations. Where TR is all about the puzzles, Uncharted is all about the action.
Add feature film narrative and production values, proper actors who are motion and voice captured simultaneously, real music from real instruments, and jaw dropping lighting effects and graphics and what you are left with is a game that plays like a dream, gets the adrenaline pumping, and has that one more go addictiveness that keeps this 30 something wanting more.
I have only had a PS3 for a couple of weeks. Previously, having won and Xbox 360, I felt it was unnecessary to have both. Was I wrong! If you don't have a PS3, get one. Not just for Uncharted but as an integrated digital media centre for the home, nothing comes close.
