Guitar Man-Hank marvin continues to innovate.,

This review is from: The Guitar Man (Audio CD)
Hank and the Shadows have always done very good 'covers' (even Apache had been recorded previously by Bert Weedon!) and this album has some great interpretations of a wide selection of contemporary favourites, plus two good originals. Hank and his 'Oz' band have thought out some innovative arrangements and the blend of acoustic and Strat tones is subtle and satisfying.Stand-out tracks for me are Guitar Man, Fields of Gold, You're Beautiful and Song for David. Hank's mastery of the guitar continues to develop and there is a treasure trove of phrases and tones here for a guitarist to study.

Apache may have been recorded by Bert Weedon but it wasn't released until after the Shadows version had stormed the charts (far more punchy and atmospheric I thought) so technically Bert's was the cover, as most people thought anyway.
