This is solid, metal, and feels as though it will last. It has an insulated accessory shoe, a hole and small securing screw for an umbrella; a ratcheted tilt mechanism that is very firm and caused me no concerns about slippage once I'd tightened it up; and it fastens to a standard studio-light stand fitting. It also comes with an adapter so that you can fasten it to either of the two standard tripod screw threads.
My only criticism is that the shoe is a really tight fit with my Metz 58 AF-1. Another flashgun fits in quite smoothly, but the Metz fits easily to the accessory shoe on top of my Canon, so I don't think the problem is with the Metz.
A good solid piece of kit. In fact after playing with the first one, I bought another. So if you like to play with off-camera flash and don't have access to an assistant this is a good buy and works well with this excellent value Light Stand
