5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning Genius - Also available region free, 21 Nov. 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Prokofiev - Romeo and Juliet [Blu-ray] [2007] [2009] [Region Free] (Blu-ray)
I was there in the stalls when this was recorded - so lucky!. Tamara Rojo (pronounced Rocco) is always great but in this performance she must have well out performed anyone who has ever danced this role both in technical ability and expression. A Shakespere plot, a leading Soviet composer, a leading conductor, a world class orchestra, magnificent settings, preiod costumes, the most powerful cast, superlative sound and visual recording, first class camera work, faultless editing. MacMillan, of course, was the extreme genius of choreography of the 20th century! Not forgetting the genius behind the Royal Ballet - Monica Mason who selects and trains her magnificent team.
Right from the moment she dances on as a young playful girl, then falls in love, then kills herself in a tragic end, Tamara grabs your heart continuously. A recording of Shakesperian proportion! He would approve and express his admiration better than I can. For me SIMPLY THE GREATEST!!! ********* stars. Tamara outshines all others. No other Juilet, danced or acted, matches her.

Thankyou for your interesting review. Could you possibly tell me where the Region-Free Blu-Ray version you mention, is available? (I think it's awful that a British ballet should be confined to AMERICAN Blu-ray!!) Many thanks- Stuart Ramsey-Hardy.
