Good but the BBC have done better,
This review is from: BBC Wildlife Special - Polar Bear [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The problem with this video is that the BBC have set themselves such superlative standards for nature films that when one is only 'very good' rather than the usual 'excellent' it tends to disappoint. When this film opens one is led to expect that we will be following closely the life of a mother and her cubs as the film about tigers in the same series does very successfully. This theme is not kept up for very long and we move on to brief glimpses of various aspects of the life of the polar bear but we do not get the same involvement as if the theme of that family had been followed closely. Neither did I come away with the feeling of having learnt that much about polar bears. We don't get much footage that we would not expect. They never manage to actually film a successful seal kill in progress. What was interesting was the attempts of bears to kill walrusses- an exercise which appeared doomed from the outset. Overall this video is well worth watching but it would not make it into my top ten nature videos.
