McAfee Total Protection for my computers.,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: McAfee Total Protection 2013 - 3 PCs, 12 month Subscription (PC) (CD-ROM)
I have used McAfee for some years now and like the user interface as it is easy to use and seems to cover me from attack.
I have never had any problems installing it on my main desktop PC, laptop and now my Tablet PC running Windows 8.
It has been good value over the years but I would suggest looking around each year for the best price for either download or by purchase of discs. Be wary of auto renew

Hi, I have always used McAfee Total Protection, always uninstalling the previous version before installing the new one. I had just bought this ready to install when my old computer died. Bought a new laptop running Windows 8. It came with 30 days free trial of McAfee internet security. It was terrible, warning all the time that my computer was at risk.
I bought Norton 360 (Compatible with Windows 8) but states on the actual disc that it will not work on some browsers and will not work with the Metro system, which is of course Windows 8.
I have been very interested in your review as you state you have installed McAfee onto one of your computers running windows 8 without problems. Is this still the case? I bank online and as yet have no security which for me means no banking, shopping etc. Windows 8 Metro comes with antivirus built in but I would prefer to get McAfee installed.
Many thanks Lorna

Hi Lorna, Thank you for the post. Sorry about the delay but I've been away and only just got back. I've used McAfee for some years now and learned to purchase a new edition of it each year, rather than go for automatic renewal - too expensive! I have the 3 user and installed it on my desktop and also my daughter's laptop both using XP. My recently bought Tablet PC was the third PC. I upgraded to Win 8 from Win 7 which is great for the Tablet use. The McAfee installed without problems and works in the background with no pop-ups or ads. It also looks after other software updates but reminds me when downloading that I should be wary as it should. I also see my other network drives, PCs and printers just fine. I hardly notice it until I need to know about it! Very good and pleased with its performance. I do recommend it. Regards,

Hi Richard, many thanks for getting back to me, it is much appreciated. I too had a computer running XP and always installed McAfee Total Protection every year via CD bought from Amazon. I agree it's much too expensive to auto install. My XP computer died just before Christmas. Had already bought 2013 McAfee ready to install on it when the poor old thing packed in. Bought new computer running windows 8. Had loads of trouble with installed internet protection which was McAfee on thirty day trial. No Site Advisor, no automatic updates though they were supposed to be on. Constant error messages informing me my computer was at risk. I had never had problems with McAfee before. Searching the web I discovered that many internet protection products just do not work with Windows 8 Metro so have to revert to the desktop view instead of the Apps system. Not too good when Windows 8 is based on Apps is it? As you have had experience of running Windows 8 after installing McAfee with no problems, I'll install my McAfee on this machine and give them grief at McAfee if this version starts playing silly devils. I'm very grateful to you Richard, many thanks, Lorna
