Wayne Shorter at His Very Best,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Odyssey of Iska (Audio CD)
This is Wayne Shorter at his very very best. Students of the soprano saxaphone should have this as a compulsory part of their education. The soprano saxaphone solos on this album know no peer and can genuinely bring a tear to the eye. His playing is from the heart and although this is free jazz, it is both lyrical and accessible. The musicians Billy Hart and Alphonze Mouzon on drums supported by two double bass players the wonderful Ron Carter and Cecil McBee give a solid but sympathetic backing. If you ever see this record in a record fair or record shop BUY IT. It is a rareity thanks to yet another blunder by Blue Note who for some reason have made this almost unobtainable depriving the world of yet another jazz classic.
