dear john, look it is does not matter what age you where when you fianlly "got it ",- the fact is you DID !!!!
I LOVED THE MAN FROM WHEN I FIRST HEARD "THIS CHARMING MAN".
I HAD TO GO OUT AND BUY IT ON 12" WHICH I STILL OWN TO THIS DAY,AS WELL AS ALL THE OTHER SMITHS SINGLES ON 12",PURELY FOR PLEASURE AND THEN YOU SEE THE PRICES ON E BAY OR EIL.COM. MY GOD I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT 2 COPIES OF EACH AT THE TIME !
i know you wrote this along time ago and i have not been to salts mill for a long time ( must be 15 years ago - now live at the seaside in east yorkshire and have M.S.)but i would love to know if the guy is still playing Morrissey these days - hope so,the world needs more like him !
hope you are still buying the newer stuff.you are the quarry is fab-u-lous and ringleader had some of his best ever songs - just think visconti's ears have let him down ( says me !)i keep listening to it and wishing the drums were more up front as matt chamberlain is one of THE best drummers ever - listen to his work with tori amos.i just want to turn up the treble control all the time- pity because that could have been soooo much more.lets hope years of refusal is back to form - production wise= he,s back to the guy form YATQ.so here,s hoping.
chuffed to bits though YOU finally got there !
