This review is from: Army of Two: The 40th Day (Xbox 360) (Video Game)
Army of Two fans beware... This should be rented rather than purchased! I completed this game on normal difficult setting in, not a word of a lie, 5 hours. Happy with my purchase in the morning I returned home, played away and by the afternoon I was watching the credits roll... Gobsmacked. The first installment of this series was great and kept me busy for days - there were plenty of challenging points and a depth to the story that was comparable to any movie. So, what happened?!
The 40th Day takes place in China or somewhere, loads of buildings get blown up by a psychotic private army leader (why?) and lots of people get killed. Half way through the game you help a zoo keeper kill a load of grunts and a couple of grenadiers and save a worker - the point to this completely lost on me.
The game itself is great, if short-lived. The graphics have had a revamp and look stunning. Weapon customisation has become a great deal easier with the constant ability to change your equipment - something that you had to wait for individual points to do on the first. Also, the amount of customisation you can do is fantastic - new camos mean that your not just stuck with pimping your gun - my personal new favourite is the skulls or fleur-du-lis camo! Gameplay is very much the same as the first with the Aggrometer - the controls have had a change up for the better meaning that its easier to do things such as change guns, equip silencers and front mounts etc.
Unfortunately, all of the extras such as the co-op bonus missions, online play and replay value all fall short of the disappointment at the length of the game.
