Where was the small print?,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Sweeney - The Complete Series [Box Set] [DVD] (DVD)
Of course it's entirely my own fault, but I purchased this thinking it was the complete "digitally remastered" series. Well, it isn't! It's what I now realise is known as the "Vanilla" series, ie just the bare bones without all the additional material.
So it seems that if you want the complete digitally remastered series with all the bells & whistles, the only option is to purchase each set individually. While accepting my own error, I do think Amazon could/should be more specific in highlighting differences between versions.

Don it might be a bit late now, but if you want the digitally remastered/restored version you don't have to buy them individually, you can get it in box set form but you pay a bit more than double the price of this set (54 pounds) just try the following link: The Definitive Sweeney - Complete TV series 1-4, The Sweeney & The Sweeney 2 (18 Discs) [DVD] this set has been available for some time.

I cannot comment on this set because I haven't viewed it. The only thing I can say is that it seems short compared to the set I got from Amazon a few years back, which is: The Definitive Sweeney - Complete TV series 1-4, The Sweeney & The Sweeney 2 (18 Discs) [DVD], including the original pilot movie called 'Regan'. In short - everything 'Sweeney' that they ever made: 18 discs in total. If you're a serious Sweeney fan I would say that this is definitely the set to go for because it's brilliant in every respect. I watch it periodically on a rolling basis, it's that good. Really! Brings back happy memories of when I was a young student in halls and the TV room was packed every Thursday night for this, plus of course our other two staples: Tomorrow's World and TOTP. If you remember those halcyon days too, The Sweeney will curry your recall.
