3.0 out of 5 stars Nice DVD if you like wildlife, 31 May 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Through the Garden Gate - A Diary of the English Countryside with Wildlife Cameraman Stephen de Vere [DVD] (DVD)
Unfortunately, the camerman who filmed this doesn't have a good voice for commentry, which spoils it a bit. Otherwise, nice DVD and filmed beauitifully,

Many thanks for posting feedback - it's always appreciated.

I am sorry you found the narration disappointing.

The second film in the same series is also narrated by me as it's also a personal diary type of film but other films in the series in the future may use professional voiceover artists, depending on the story that the film tells.

I found his voice just fine and suites the video really well. Just shows everything is subjective. I really hope he doesn't use a professional narrator next as this would destroy the homeliness and turn them into something bland.

The idea with these films is to provide something the BBC Natural World series no longer does - British wildlife - as well as offer a different format to Springwatch and Autumnwatch which, wonderful though they are, always use presenters and music which is not to everyone's liking.

I can confirm that the second film Return to the River - Diary of a Wildlife Cameraman [DVD] is also narrated by me. No presenter, no music, no special effects, no trained animals, just wildlife in the wild.
