Listen to your elders you might learn something.,
This review is from: Wildwood Wisdom (Paperback)
I'd heard rave reviews about it so went ahead and ordered my copy. Was a bit sceptical when I saw it and wasn't sure about the hand drawings. All seemed a bit dated. However once I started into it I started to enjoy it.
It's a combination of historical document and bushcrat/survival guide detailing for example the clothes worn by the different tribes and how they were made. The info provided is quite basic but combined with the pictures I think in most cases you'd be able to complete each project. The pictures add to this sense of an age old tradition and I began to enjoy them.
Being from Ireland myself I tended to skip over the parts which detailed the animals that live in America, although I was interested in the different ways that each is skinned etc. I also skipped over the plants and fungi section as I'd prefer to use a more detailed book with colour photos as a guide.
Overall I enjoyed the book. It was an interesting read and had some great stuff in it. I don't think I'd recommend it to a complete novice who was looking to learn survival skills and bushcraft from scratch, but it is definitely one to have on the shelf once you have learned the basics.
