Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: SainSmart UNO R3 Starter Kit With 19 Basic Arduino Tutorial Projects for Beginners (1602 LCD & Prototype Shield & Keyboard included) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
This kit of parts is excellent value, and was delivered very quickly.
All the parts are of high quality and would cost a great deal more if bought individually from the likes of RS etc.
The kit is ideal for anyone who wants a fairly quick and relatively painless entree into the wonderful world of the Arduino.
It is, however, let down by the abysmal documentation.
There are no instructions supplied with the kit. However there is a website where you can find pretty much all the information you need -
Problem is the website is written in pidgin English - as are most of the downloadable instruction manuals on it.
Eg these gems from the downloadable manual for the kit -
'Arduino grammar is built on the basis of C/C + +, in fact is also the basic C grammar, Arduino grammar not only put some related parameters Settings are function change, we have no need to understand his bottom, let us to know AVR micro control unit (MCU) friend can also easy to fit in...
Small LED lamp experiment is the basis of comparison of the experimental one, this time we use the motherboard comes with 13 feet of LED lights to complete the experiment, the experimental equipment we need is the Arduino which each experiment must have and USB download cable.
Accordance with the good circuit after the link above figure, you can start writing programs, and we let the small LED lights flashing. Lighting on for one second and off for one second. This program is very simple. This is Arduino own routines Blink'.
You really need to have a knowledgeable friend who can help out, or a more than rudimentary grasp of electronics, to be able to understand what's being said there - and since this kit is likely to be bought by new learners, this obviously defeats the object of the exercise.
I would suggest you buy this kit for the value of the parts, then get a decent book - I quite like '30 Arduino Projects for the Evil Genius', but there are many other good books to choose from, and there are many fine websites and tutorials online.
