I just don't agree,
This review is from: Street Boys: 7 Kids. 1 Estate. No Way Out. The True Story of a Lost Childhood (Kindle Edition)
Firstly I want to say that this book is very well written and the author obvious did a lot of research and spent time getting the subjects in the book to trust and talk to him in an open way. That is the positive and it is purely this that encourages me to give two stars.
On to the negative - The kids / adults in this book commit crime, with absolutely no consideration for the victim and the book doesn't consider this either. Quite often the crimes are specifically committed to buy new Nike trainers or designer clothes, rather than because of any poverty. A lot of the kids are from supportive families and their crimes and associated punishments are done through choice.
I think the part of the story that really annoyed me was when the mother of the main character said that the family even had to start wearing seatbelts when in the car because the please were 'targeting them'. No, the reason you wear a seatbelt is for your own safety and because it is the law.
