It ought to be in every school curriculum,
This review is from: All Quiet on the Western Front [DVD] (DVD)
'All Quiet on the Western' was the only book I remember my grandfather, who had survived the trenches, giving me and saying something along the line of, "If you want to know what it was really like, read this". I have just reread the book after fifty-odd years and then went straight to watching this film. It is as relevant today as it was eighty years ago and should be on every school curriculum for discussion. There are plenty of reviews here that will describe the cinematic aspect but that is way outside my ability. This is just a great film to watch with so much to say and made only twelve years after the events I suspect has more authenticity than anything made later. Buy it, watch it and show it to today's generation.
