Weird Space is getting better and better,
This review is from: Weird Space: Satan's Reach (Mass Market Paperback)
The First book in the "Weird Space" series created a Universe where we have a human and an alien race opposing each other but now with a far more dangerous and common enemy. With this Universe as platform we get to follow a Star Trader on a run between the stars at the border of human populated space.
Our trader finds himself in a situation in which he has no other option but to run away from a number of enemies but with a young woman aboard. He is then hunted all over this section of known space and we get to follow every close encounter with his pursuing enemies.
Eric Brown has managed to make this a very nice and smooth flowing story that is a big improvement over the first book in the series. Even if you still get the feeling that it lacks somewhat in describing the hardship and horror of a lot of the places he finds himself in it is still a very nice ride.
What really feels like true Sf is that out "hero" has this young gorgeous woman on board his ship and there is never a sinful thought in his head! Maybe Mr Brown does not want to add what would be an almost given result in a modern book into this type of classic Space Opera?
Anyhow, I will buy and read the next one in the series without waiting for any reviews.
