1.0 out of 5 stars "Hitlers re-incarnation goes arthouse", 23 May 2010
This review is from: Stoic [DVD] [2008] (DVD)
This is trash supplying director Uwe Boll's attempt at going arthouse, he seems to think that making a film based on a true story, shot in independent film style and having the actors improvise their lines will win him recognition, but seeing his past credentials (a bunch of horrid video game spin-offs), you won't be able to stay entertained here. Edward Furlong, former golden boy of American History X and Terminator 2 fame seems to be showing the Corey Haim disease here; his real acting days are obviously way behind him and today just looks short and beat-up, he plays one of 3 prisoners in a German detention centre who for no reason whatsoever, beat-up and torture a fellow prisoner and subject him to rape, humiliation and they eventually force him to hang himself. The interviews from the characters that often come in are just plain stupid; seeing as the actors are improvising they obviously have no possible careers as writers spouting all sorts of idiotic gibberish while this seems to be attempting almost all of the time to be realistic what with all the hand-held camerawork, but when you make a shoddy straight-to-DVD film filled with mindless wordplay and anal rape with a broomstick, its not gonna turn out right. This is a bad watch for people in general but seeing as Boll has released more flops than most other living directors, you won't be surprised when you end up turning this depressing garbage off.
