Intriguing to read, especially if you've seen the film first.,

It took me a little while to be engaged with this book, but as I progressed the story began to grab me. The book isn't elegantly written and it feels like the constant metaphorical observations of Eddie Valiant become a little overused at times: however the story was dark and intriguing and found myself even pausing for thought at the end.
Despite some similarities the book differes hugely from the film, but it's really interesting to see how the movie was inspired by this novel. Both are good and stand on their own. The book goes into more detail about the world in which toons coexist with human beings and there are hints of a parable on racial segregation with the way the toons are viewed in this society. It's all the additional detail here which feels like it often compliments the film which really added to my enjoyment.
