3.0 out of 5 stars Good book but get CD too, 5 Oct. 2011
This review is from: Complete Welsh Beginner to Intermediate Course: Learn to read, write, speak and understand a new language with Teach Yourself (Paperback)
When i bought this book i did not realise it was meant to come with a CD. Therefore you need the CD in order to understand how to pronounce the words.

Its quite in depth but not overwhelming and it has a repetitive system so each chapter is organised in the same way, with a bit about speaking and reading (and listening if you have the CD).

It has a dictionary in the back one from English to Welsh and one Welsh to English which is handy.

There are a few references in the book to the CD so i would just make sure if you get the book-get the CD to go with it.

My comment is a question though: Are there any exercises in writing, like writing by dictate? I would really like a course which would be more alike "karl Marx Institute"'s 2000 ones in which you had everything step-by-step, including writing by dictate. I also, as much as I could see in enabled inside view, saw there are no correct answers to the exercises with which you could control yourself. Searching through the book to find them is more annoying then it could help. Also doing exercises and not knowing if you are doing it corectly or not has no point at all.

I also am not quite sure now, is this what I just see here really book with CD or is it only a book and CD comes separately. If only book, then the price is way too high, no matter how many pages it contains especially because I've read the book without CD is almost useless.

So, if anyone can answer me to those questions positively, then I might change my mind and order it anyway, if not, then, sorry, I'm not buying.
