An epic adventure,
This review is from: Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (PS3) (Video Game)
Uncharted 2 really impressed me and it was a big improvement on the first game which was great. Uncharted 3 is perhaps even better than the second game which is really saying something.
Those who have played the previous games will be on familiar territory and the story does continue on from the last game (although newcomers will be able to step right in). Once again you're in Indiana Jones/Tomb Raider territory searching for artefacts and dispensing with hoards of enemies in a series of action packed scenarios. The shooting is quite similar to before but the hand to hand combat has been improved considerably. The puzzles are also better than before and require a bit of thought.
Although this kind of game has been done before what sets the Uncharted series apart are the fantastic action scenes, stunning graphics, gripping storylines and witty dialogue. More than any other game Uncharted feels almost as if you're watching a film and when the credits roll at the end (and you see the huge amount of people involved) you can see that a lot of thought has been put into it.
Certain scenes really are incredible such as escaping a collapsing building, navigating through a half sunken ship and trekking across the desert whilst hallucinating. The attention to detail on the scenery, the atmospheric sound effects and the epic soundtrack really helps to immerse you into the game.
I've only had a quick go online but it seems to work pretty well and there is also the opportunity to play with a friend on a few missions using the multiplayer option (although you can't play the main game like this).
Any complaints? Not really although I did finish it fairly quickly and the ending wasn't that difficult but that's not a big issue really.
If you loved the previous games you will not be disappointed. If you've never played Uncharted before it's easy enough to get into. Roll on Uncharted 4!
