To many wrong steps,
This review is from: Toy Story 3 (2-Disc Blu-ray + DVD) (Blu-ray)
Theres a lot right with Toy Story 3 but more of it seems in the detail and technology on display than the ability Pixar show in this installement to write a screenplay that doesn't tread into "Fidget" and "Dullsville" every 5 minutes.
This seems to be a trip through several set pieces glued together with a convoluted and totally unoriginal plot with far to many dull characters and Tom Hanks trying to keep the tension going in the scenes where the plot grinds to a halt by being asked to talk more frantically..
Its tedium beyond belief and its hard to understand what on earth the critiques were judging this film on. Granted this is Pixars best looking film, the texture and use of light is unbelievable, the blu ray capturing every nuance and render and popping out of the screen with staggering beauty at times. But none of this can save it from a lack of writing that turns what should have been a great film into a trip down Boredom Street.

You and I clearly have very different taste in films, I thought this was the best film of 2010 by far, especially for anyone who fitted into the age demographic for the first two films back in the day.

Dan Roach says:
puzzled by your comment about the 'unoriginal plot'...? have you seen this plot elsewhere? if so, when? where? who? etc
also, 'too many dull characters?' i didnt realise each one had to be amzingly funny, exciting and gripping. So my question is, who were the dull charcters for you? if im not mistaken, many contributed to the storyline perfectly even if it was for a short period of the film
yes i do love this film but i can also understand why a minority wouldnt...could u back up some of your points so i at least understand why your review was capped with such a low 'score'?

Oh I feel so sorry for you, as I found this film to be so enjoyable. I wish you could like it as much as I do, I love the scenes when buzz starts talking Spanish, and when Barbie meets Ken etc... I guess we all do have different tastes
