Welcome to Jack's Exclusive World,
This review is from: Fallen Angels: Paintings by Jack Vettriano (Paperback)
Fallen Angels is one of JV'S earlier books of his paintings- 1991. It has 120 pages, so less paintings than some of his other books perhaps. Each painting has a personal commentary from various Scottish playwrights, writers, poets, actors, photographers etc.
This book as a hardback is a little more expensive nowadays because of its age and availability. I love his paintings and this is the third book of his that I've purchased.
His men are so well groomed, suited & booted, so suave - almost male model- like. Very American gangster , 1920's/ 1930's in style.
I adore the beach scenes, the exclusive clubs, the great outdoor look, the `what goes on behind closed doors' society.
But, it's the women I adore the most, immaculately dressed, wonderful model -like figures, beautiful hair, just stunningly beautiful creatures to look at. Perhaps they are gangster's molls or high class escorts? The men and women of Jack's life are a perfect match in many ways' handsome stylish men spending their time with their equally beautiful women.
I do understand of course that the feminists and 'pc brigade' won't be comfortable with this, but in all honesty, has much really changed?
The good looking escorts will always get the most work and the best rates! The best looking guys will always attract the best looking girls. The paintings aren't telling any lies even in this twenty first century.
This guy is 100% style and that's the allure of his paintings for me. He takes you to his exclusive world which is just wonderful and intriguing to visit - unless your a prude I suppose.
