Amusing radio comedy from the Peep Show stars,

The fact that Mitchell and Webb, have been so successful in 2 major tv series and to a lesser extent their film, Magicians, means that this bright comedy duo are finally running the risk of spreading themselves a little thin on this fourth series of their popular radio show. This, in turn, leaves a slight sense of over-familiarity with certain elements and themes within the duo's comedic structures and characterisation. So well-worn themes of history, office politics, and sci-fi make their expected appearance in a generally well written and consistantly amusing series of comedy sketches [ if not quite as funny as the finest moments of Peep Show].
That said, this fourth series of The Mitchell and Webb Sound has many worthwhile moments, and some of the sketches are clever if a little self knowing in places [ i particularly enjoyed the Stargate, and the old lady job justification hearings series of sketches].
Mitchell and Webb are still very much in their comedy comfort zone, but appear to be effectively avoiding the fall from grace that some of their main contemporaries, namely Lucas and Walliams, seem to be experiencing at the moment. Hopefully there is still a lot more to come from this talented pair in the future, and that the very best gags are left for the brilliant Peep Show.
