Find the Masters of Cinema DVD,
This review is from: The Savage Innocents [DVD] (DVD)
There was already an excellent DVD release of this film, from Masters of Cinema but due to a rights dispute this shoddy edition has now appeared. A look at the spelling of Anthony Quinn's name on the cover ("Antohny"?) gives some indication of the kind of workmanship that went into this product. The biggest flaw is that a beautiful Cinemascope (2.35:1) film has been butchered to 4:3, so a lot of the image is missing. Furthermore, the picture quality is terrible. Save your money for the excellent Masters of Cinema DVD, which also includes a full-length commentary and a 32-page booklet. That release didn't go out of print too long ago, so there are still copies of it to be found, and with any luck it will eventually be back in print.
