Another Doctor Who Milking,
This review is from: Doctor Who Revisitations 2 (The Seeds of Death / Carnival of Monsters / Resurrection of the Daleks) [DVD] (DVD)Another chance for BBC and 2 Entertain to re release stories on DVD again. If these sets were much cheaper they might be worth it, but for people like me who buy every Doctor Who dvd on release day, these sets just seem like a con

Either don't buy it or wait until it's cheaper, then. You're not being forced to buy it.

It's not exactly milking it is it? Because the classic series isn't really popular enough to do that.
The reason for these releases is to improve the restoration.

So don't buy it on release day.

Another pointless pre-release, whinging, non-review with no reference to the quality of the stories which would be of far more use to people looking at these episodes for the first time. 2|Entertain...con...got these already....should've been released properly first time...blah...blah...blah...
Well done kaw203.

D. Starck says:
Agreed.. this IS pointless.. I have no objection to re-releasing them. INDIVIDUALLY! I'd happily shell out for Resurrection, but not too bothered about the other two, so it's buy two I don't want (as I have the originals) OR miss out on the one I DO want. They released Five Doctors and Remembrance as standalones, why not these. I think it's the boxsets which some people find aggravating. Particularly for Terror of the Autons, which I gather I'm going to have to shell out extra for, as it comes with Spearhead, another story I'm quite happy with.
Why the Revisitations at all for that matter; at least, for the time being? Get the unreleased stories released FIRST, then "revisit" them all you want, preferably one at a time.

That is a perfect answer, thats how they should be done

Couldn't agree more D Starck
I bought the first 'Revisitations' because I was really keen on getting a proper release of Caves of Androzani and, like you, I'm looking forward to Resurrection of the Daleks but am not particularly bothered about the other two stories.
They should be released individually but in the absence of this there are two options. 1) bite the bullet and buy it at release, you might enjoy the enhanced features of the other two stories or 2) wait for it to drop in price, which it inevitably will.
What's not great is providing a one star review, perhaps unfairly knocking down the average, and putting off potential customers who might otherwise buy and thoroughly enjoy the DVD's.
Sure - make reference to the fact these are re-released, and even that they are unconnected stories unusually bundled, but why not review the actual stories themselves?
People who are already fans are clever enough to see what's going on and make an educated purchase decision based on the enhanced material available.

A lot of anoraks trying to justify nothing. A bit like trainspotters who see an old engine fly past with a new paint job.

Spot on John - you've summed it all up nicely.

These are improved editions with lots more extras than the original.
The re-release Only Fools and Horses complete collection - a new box but nothing new and Royal Flush still in butchered form. Now THAT is a rip-off if you've already got the original OFAH complete collection release.
