This review is from: Fallout: New Vegas (PS3) (Video Game)
Fallout New Vegas is the new expansion pack to Fallout 3. Built on the same engine with very little improvements, it is what should have been the expansion to Fallout 3 instead of those little DLC discs that were priced at £10 and only added 3 hours of game play each to Fallout 3.
New Vegas suffers from many bugs and technical difficulties just like its predecessor. This shows that the game was rushed. It is practically unfinished. Save files even become corrupted and that is one of the reasons I went and got a refund for this game, I also noticed that after 2 hours, the frame rate got slower as well, the more you played the game, the more slower it got. What the hell? This is as big a mess as Fable 2 was! NPC's are still as dumb as they were in Fallout 3 and Oblivion and not much detail has gone into their faces and some NPC's even mutter out the same lines again and again and they get repetitive. In other words, the AI is atrocious.
The combat is practically the same as Fallout 3, meaning that bullets nearly always miss where you are targeting. V.A.T.S gets weaker later on against many enemies rendering it useless. You would have thought that shooting bullets into a person's unprotected head at close range would kill them but no, not in Fallout New Vegas.
For those who want the game to be more harder, there is an hardcore mode which means you need to eat and sleep in order to survive, enemies are also much harder. Why not implement the eating and sleeping into the normal difficulty? Arx Fatalis required you to eat to survive and it never got annoying and I guess someone decided it would for Fallout Vegas which is why they implemented it into the hardcore mode which means that we need to fight high level enemies just to experience what should have been on the normal difficulty.
Anyway, the story line is as boring and generic as Fallout 3. I won't go into details here but you're pretty much out for revenge and answers. Overall; I recommend you avoid this game. If you must get it, then get it when it hits the bargain bin and when it is patched, because if you put 50 hours into the game, only to have your save become corrupted, you are going to be annoyed.
Why buy this game when there are plenty of better games out there that have actually been bug tested and aren't unfinished? If you have not already, get Mass Effect 2 or Dragon Age: Origins. Dragon Age: Origins may have some bugs but none are game killing and they aren't even noticeable. Further more, with the Ultimate Edition for Origins, you will get far more content than this crap game could ever offer you. There is also Divinity II - The Dragon Knight saga which is a far more superior RPG old school game than this. I recommend you avoid this terrible shooter RPG which holds your hand.
One word for this game: AVOID.

0/10? The graphics, gameplay and 3D engine alone warrent more than that alone. There is a lot of similarity to the fallout 3 HUD etc but if it aint broke why fix it? Too many games try and 'improve' and fail miserably, the FF series for instance has gone progressively downhill since 7. The map is massive, the people are intriguing and there are some good comedy elements. Also the annoying metro system of getting to places on fallout 3 is gone and to be honest this review isn't worth the reply but I couldn't help myself. You are clearly a moron.
