The good, the bad & the ugly,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Sony BDPS790 3D SMART Blu-ray Player with Built-in Wi-Fi (Electronics)
After owning this player for several months I feel confident that I can write an accurate & honest review. I have this paired with a KDL40W905 (Flagship 2013) and a Sony sound bar.
Picture Quality - Top notch and by far the best I have seen in both 2D & 3D.
Audio Quality - Great!
Operating Systen (XMB) - Awful.. Looks extremely outdated, feels very laggy/clunky and full of low resolution icons and text.
Build Quality - On the whole it's very good. My only complaints would be that the disc tray is a little flimsy and it can be a little noisy when spinning a disc.
Applications are listed via small low resolution icons which are again a chore to navigate. Unfortunately this is probably the worst OS on a blu ray player I have used.
Smart Features - Again due to the clunkiness and general slow responsiveness of the menu's it seems more of a chore than an actual feature.
On the one hand the picture & audio quality are excellent... With regards to the operating system, ease of use & general responsiveness of the system it's extremely poor.

Why are Sony unable to make a Blu-Ray player with good build quality and plays disc's quietly? Every one I've tried has a noisy drive.
