Surprised at the negativity....,
This review is from: I Think We're Gonna Need A Bigger Boat (Audio CD)
I discovered this album about six months before it was to be released, after hearing an early version of toe jam, and promised myself i would listen to the full version when it was released. Ironically, even though i got the album, this is the first time ive checked out amazon to see how it was reviewed, and was astonished at the 2 star average rating.
This album isnt a masterpiece, and there are a few "throw away" tracks, but personally i think the tracks it does well, it does VERY well. This isnt typical fatboy slim, theres elements of it, but thats not what its supposed to be, so if you are looking for a fatboy slim album, best to try elsewhere.
"Hes frank" kicks in to start the album, its powerful and the voice of iggy pop adds so much, as soon as i hear the first two drum notes, im immediately into it. Never heard of Pete York, but i love Dirty Sheets, very catchy song. Should i stay or should i blow, arguably the best song, such a lively and fun song, one of those songs that you always want to listen to when it comes on. Toe Jam the main single, really catchy, very fatboy slim like, and the video is genius.
I expected to come onto amazon and see 4 star average at least. Maybe its just me, but i think this album is fantastic.
The only three songs i dislike on this album are superman, superlover and the atrocious "Jumps the fence". Despite that, this album is a fantastic listen, and one that i have been listening to regularly since its release.
