miss my 970 IS,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Canon PowerShot A2400 IS Digital Camera - Silver (16.0 MP, 5x Optical Zoom) 2.7 inch LCD (Electronics)
Why do camera manufacturers all change their products within months. I loved my 970IS camera, but within a couple of years it developed a problem and died- at least the mechanism that focuses failed, and I could not afford repairs, hence I bought the above model A2400 IS- it is not bad as cameras go but it is nowhere near as good as the original it was intended to replace. I thought from blurb it would be better, but I fear it is pretty ordinary. Having lost my third canon camera to problems with focusing over the last three years, including my powershots I am reluctant to recommend canon any more. If I have to replace this one just after the guarantee runs out, then it is probably the last canon I will ever touch. I have become disillusioned, not even batteries and spare batteries are of any use with the newer models- they each have a new battery and charger. I have four chargers all from canon - all taking different size batteries- what a hassle to have to replace the battery pack every time one replaces a camera- bad bad bad canon. I cannot afford spare batteries at the high price you charge for them any more.
On the whole, it takes reasonable pictures, not exceptional quality, and the video sound and film quality is not as good as the 970IS. I wish we had a real option of old screen size rather than widescreen. I should check the manual to ensure I have set everything correctly. Ah well, a big sigh as I dispose of the old camera and accept that this is my current toy.
