A Second Chance Not To Be Missed.,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: BRITISH HIT EPS (Paperback)
Many years ago, there was a first edition of this book which became so hard-to-get, I gave up. By accident, I saw this book and that it was an expanded second edition which required investigation. Taking a chance, I am pleased to report that my purchase has been worthwhile. On the negative side of this publication, I would say that the layout and facts could and should have been better thought through as they're somewhat disjointed in places. Sadly, there are too many black and white copies of the EP sleeves themselves which has distracted me a little from the enjoyment as many of them were in colour. On the positive side, the book provides a history of this unique and hitherto uncharted territory of the UK EP (Extended Play) and the portrayal of their chart history in the scheme of British charts. I have sat and studied the history of one EP namely the Moody Blues 4 track featuring 'Go Now!' and three other tracks as well. I was able to deduce its history from first until last chart entry which I found quite fascinating. I do like the EP charts contained within this book, and the fact that there are many items in this format that have so sadly been overlooked but righted here. Excluding the few negative points, this is a thoroughly entertaining, informative and educational book into the buying habits of the record buyers. Readers may also notice some choice rarities that now never ever see the light of day on reissues. That this is now a bygone era of collecting 7" vinyl of the finest quality is brought home to roost in what is a really unique book. If you missed the first version then grab this revised and expanded second version whilst its around. You really won't be disappointed. Thank you.
