MS Sidewinder X4 Keyboard,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Microsoft Sidewinder X4 Keyboard (Electronics)
This is a reasonably priced MS Keyboard. It has a number of
programmed game settings.
It appears to be well made, and compared
to my last keyboard, feels heavy, and substantial.
The keyboard is otherwise as a "normal type" keyboard, which can
be used for day to day use.
The keys have a back light, which has a number of settings, from a
normal orange light, to dimmer settings.
The only feature that could be improved upon, is the length of the
board, I would like to see the numeric part of the keyboard, detachable.
Otherwise this is a very good & reasonably priced product.

Mr. A. Williams says:
I will get right to the point.
This is a gaming keyboard. It was designed with gaming in mind and is its key selling feature.
First off I will state what another reviewer already pointed out (F. Leite). This is the US version and as such some of the characters are out of place (@, ", etc) Very annoying and takes a lot of getting used to. I would also like to point out that the Esc key is not in the usual place which is also very frustrating.
Back to the gaming side of the keyboard. A lot of games require the use of 3+ key combinations, examples of this would be games such as CSS and Cod4.
This keyboard will not let you to use 3 keys at once if ctrl is one of the keys. For example in Cod4 if I want to Crouch, move forward and reload (hold ctrl,W & R) It does nothing, other than anger me. This may not sound like a major problem but for most gamers this is a major flaw.
Please If you are considering this keyboard do some research, I have just sent mines back for a refund as its not on par with most gaming keyboards.

Presumably you and F. Leite bought this keyboard from a Marketplace seller, because the version I got (direct from Amazon) has a UK keyboard layout.
I do agree with your last sentence btw. The build quality just isn't there. Capslock on mine fails to register frequently, and the keys are losing their black paint. (I uploaded a pic of this.) I've only had it four months.
