G8 fit Canon EOS 550D + 17-85mm zoom,
This review is from: Lowepro Rezo TLZ 10 Toploading Bag for DSLR and Short Zoom (Electronics)
"Why would you buy another camera bag when you already have 4?" my wife asks ...
Well you know I would not have stayed married for so long by drawing any attention to her handbags ...
I find that the EF-S 17-85 IS-USM zoom (f4-5.6 ; 67mm diameter) caters for 80+% of my shots that I usually only need to go out with it on my EOS 550d alone. All my other bags are for carrying more kit for different purposes e.g. skiing, laptop included, etc. So I have been on the lookout for a smaller bag.
Initially I was looking for one which could also take the flashgun or a longer lens but whenever I had that configuration, I also needed to carry water bottles or some other gear which the larger camera bags caters for.
Not being all that gentle with my camera + lens, I finally managed to get this which fits snugly.
I do have to reverse the Canon EW-73B lens hood such that it does not protrude beyond the end of the lens. I was concerned that this lens is longer than the standard-kit lens and might not fit, but it was fine without stretching the bag's fixings at all.
However the snug fit for the EOS 550d would mean that it would not fit the larger bodied Canon DSLRs nor the Nikons.
There is a front pocket large enough for my circular polarising filter in its case. And a small rear compartment would just about take spare batteries and memory cards. A couple of extra side pockets would have been handy ~ but then I'd probably just stuff it with things I would never actually use anyway!
All it lacks is a waterproof cover for driving rain which my other Lowepro bags have. So will have to avoid long hikes or take a large carrier bag along :-)
