This review is from: Never Coming Back: David Raker Novel #4 (Kindle Edition)
Tim Weaver can write a compelling and fast-paced thriller, but the book gives the impression of never quite knowing what it's about. Who is never coming back? There are about three candidates. Who are we following? Who is the hero and what is his challenge? It took about 20% of the book before this was clear. And twists and turns are essential for a thriller, but if there are too many they can feel forced. Three-quarters of the way in, the author threw in yet another challenge for the hero, which was one too far for me. To sum up: good thriller writing, but a confused and meandering plot, with too many thriller-plot clichés.
