Noughts And Crosses READ IT!,
This review is from: Noughts & Crosses: Book 1 (Noughts And Crosses) (Paperback)
I first picked up this book in school and by th end of that day I'd finished it. It's a story of two friends Callum and Sephy and how they are being forced apart by the racial discrimination in their country. It is a world where blacks rule over the whites and set out in diary form. I won't ruin the story by giving too much away but i will say that as they grow older Callum and Sephy begin to realise that their love for each other is beyond just friendship, but their families are determined they shouldn't be together. I love this book as it goes through Sephy and Callum's emotions first hand and makes you feel involved. It is a gripping read all the way through with many twists along the way. It is brilliantly written and i never wanted it to end. It is possibly the best book i have ever read and the only 'real life' type book i have actually enjoyed. The end is very moving and brought me to tears, but a happy ending wouldn't have made the book as brilliant as it is. It is a must read and suitable for teenagers and adults, but children under 12 might find it a little too challenging.
