Still great after all these years,

This review is from: The Sims: Double Deluxe (PC CD) (Video Game)
I bought this back in 2004 but recently found myself playing the series again when my PC broke as this was one of the few games that my laptop could handle. It was still as fun as I remember it being when I first bought it, and I'd highly recommend it if you want to dip your toes in The Sims universe but know your computer can't handle the later games, or you can't afford them and all their expansion packs.
The Sims Double Deluxe is a good starting point as it gives you the base game, as well as the first two expansion packs (my least favourites, but they have a few nice additions here and there), bonus items, and a tool to customise your Sims further.
Compared to The Sims 2 and The Sims 3, this game looks its age, and if you've played the sequels before playing this version you'll miss the features of ageing and genetics, not to mention the wishes, traits, rewards and so on. However, this game started the whole series off and you will still be able to appreciate the great music and quirky humour, if you can look past what you'll miss from the sequels.
