Discover who you really are,
This review is from: Freedom from the Known (Paperback)
I picked up this book while traveling in India. It was a total revelation and changed my perception of life.
Krishnamurti invites his audience to investigate fear and pleasure, and how these feelings imprison our interpretation of life. Our perception of the present, he argues, is based upon our experience of similar events in the past. We therefore continually interpret the present according to the past. When encountering something alien or unknown to us, we reject its novelty if we can not assimilate it to a past experience. In order to break this perpetual cycle, we must free ourselves from the past - from what is known - and learn to observe the present in a different way. Only then can we accept life, attain an understanding of truth, and discover the real meaning of love.
This is a complex book which requires a great deal of concentration to read. You must also not be afraid to look in the mirror, as Krishnamurti is ultimately leading you on a meditative journey exploring the depths of your own soul. I was particularly struck by his concept that loving others makes you vulnerable, and that accepting this is part of achieving happiness.
I strongly recommend reading Krishnamurti. It will change the way you look at yourself and how you relate to others.
