BE PREPARED TO RE-ARRANGE YOUR THOUGHTS OF SHEENA EASTON!,
By A Customer
This review is from: No Strings (Audio CD)
This 1993 album is a TOTAL change of style for Sheena Easton and is far different than the view most people (in the UK at least) have of her. This album is full to the brim with beautiful standards, sumptuously arranged and produced by Patrice Rushen. My attention was drawn to this album after I saw Sheena Easton sing the song THE NEARNESS OF YOU in the movie "Indecent Proposal" and was captured by her passionate version of IF YOU GO AWAY (NE ME QUITTE PAS), the swinging version of NEVER WILL I MARRY and the heart-rending (at least for me) version of SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER ME. The album is a fantastic collection of songs written by the likes of George & Ira Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Rodgers & Hart, Frank Loesser, Hoagy Carmichael and Jacques Brel. From seemingly simple tracks with a piano and a voice to the full big band, each track is sung with feeling, from the softly sung lyrics to those belted out with passion, the performace on this album shows that she is a very versatile singer and shows that Sheena Easton is more than just a middle of the road 1980's pop star! I hope there's another album like this from her soon. BRILLIANT!
